About Project
The aim for the client was to create a engaging and inspiring VR experience geared towards 18-25 years olds pursing or already engaged in the field of STEM. Boskalis are the leading experts in activites such as marine dredging and excavtion, they wanted to bring the the story of a select few employyes to life. They had four emplyee videos, all of whom work in various sectors describing their activities. The video would be playing on various screens whilst the VR experience was happening.
For this I took advantage of a real time engine like Unreal engine as I knew it would not be possible given the time constraints in renders like Octane or Redshift. Several assets had to be bought such as a similar replica of the EverGiven boat along with the sunken shipwreck. The most time consuming part really was putting all my renders together in Adobe Premiere. Exporting a 8K video which is over 7 minutes long is not quick, especially when there is last minute feedback such as changes in the voiceover or music. The video would be showcased at a few different expos and events, trying to gain new recruits in the STEM sector. They had 30 headsets playing the video simultaneously via VR Owl's playback tool.
